Counting on the popularity of the fabric across the globe, we- Khoday Silk Streams, came into being in the year 1997 as a manufacturer and exporter of silk fabrics, home furnishings and made ups.

Characteristics of Silk

Silk is very strong in terms of tensile strength, meaning it can withstand a lot of pulling type pressure without breaking. This should not, however, be confused with wear ability or abrasion resistance. Silk will not stand up to the heavy wear that other fibers will. It can take on many different appearances. An Indian silk fabric may fool you into thinking that it is cotton or synthetic. The more refined the silk and the smaller the yarn, the more it resembles the look and feel that we know as silky.

Silk is a protein fiber like wool. This gives it many of its characteristics. It is sensitive to a range of chemical situations and cannot withstand prolonged exposure to either high alkalinity or to acid or oily soils. It will become brittle with age and exposure to sunlight.

Usual Process

Normally the cocoons are exposed to heat & sun-dried. For some quality, cocoons are immersed into boiling water bath to soften the gum (sericin) before reeling. The reeler takes filaments from several cocoons in order to form raw silk thread. Certain varieties of silk (e.g., Eri, Ghicha) is spun instead of reeling.

For Yarn-dyed fabrics, natural yarn is degummed, bleached & dyed before weaving. For greige fabrics natural yarn is used.

Fabrics are woven mainly in Hand loom. However, certain qualities are also woven on Powerloom these days.

Woven fabric is inspected thoroughly for any defect and specification like width, reed, pick etc. Greige fabric is degummed, bleached & dried. Bleached Fabric is dyed on certain delicate Jigger machines.

Dyed fabric after thorough inspection, undergoes different finishing processes to ensure softness & lustre. One of the important finishing process called Kundi in local term involves beating the fabric.

We are backed by a state-of-the-art infrastructure that comprises of a sprawling manufacturing unit built over 5000 sq. ft. and equipped with that latest machines and tools that facilitate faster production. Our company has successfully achieved a target of INR 1,000,0000 that is expected to rise in the coming financial year. With the solid backing of modernized machines, we are able to manufacture close to 500 pieces each month or as per the demand of the customer.

Our company beholds experts that can produce the exact garment specified through a photograph or specifications given by the client. These can be produced in a very short time even for bulk requirements.

Capacious Warehouse

We have a capacious warehouse to store the range of our silk fabrics categorically under proper labeling. The stored products are sorted and stored according to their patterns and varieties, which also ensure in efficient maintenance of a streamlined inventory. This facilitates in easy and timely dispatch of the consignments. We take care that the warehouse is fumigated at regular intervals to keep it free from moth attack so as to protect the fabric from damage.

Packaging and Delivery

Our company has always been very careful in packing the finished products. Proper packing prevents the products from getting spoiled or torn as the silk fabric is very delicate. We have the facility to do bulk as well as individual packing as per the requirement of the customers. For timely delivery of products, we have our own logistics department having a fleet of transport vehicles. We require an estimated lead time of 2 to 3 weeks from the time of order.
